Eicma 2018: motorcycles and girls. And the blockchain?

The 76th International Bicycle and Motorcycle exhibition has just ended: EICMA 2018, held in Milan from 6 to 11 November.
Hundreds of previews, 1,278 brands present (+ 13.7% compared to 2016), and six occupied halls, with an area increase of almost 20% on the same year.

The confirmations also come from the global attractiveness of the exhibition with 52% of foreign exhibitors coming from 44 different countries and, above all, from the interest of the media and that of foreign operators, who grow in attendance respectively of 18.3. % and 17.1% compared to the reference year. Extraordinary also the influx of the public, which stands at the record numbers of the last edition, at the end from which the box office registered a plus 24%, electing it as the best of the last decades.

The longest day of EICMA, Friday 9 with the closing at 22, was dedicated to women, with free entry for women.
An attention that the most important exhibition event in the world for the sector wanted to relaunch this year, at a time, of growing interest of women towards the two wheels.

Also included in the ticket you could participate in the competition: “Visit EICMA 2018 and vote for your favorite stand” competition in which you could win many prizes.
The public has voted, the winners with the most beautiful stands are those of:

Many stands like that of Suzuki, – to name one – it was crowded, will they have been there to see the bikes or the girls? I let you imagine it to you.

These are some of the photos I’ve done. Unfortunately, in some stands it was difficult to get in, because full of people:

BMW partnership

BMW Group financial services has announced its partnership with blockchain startup Bloom in a bid to streamline its customer journey and user experience, per a Blog post.

Bloom helps to make the traditional lending process easier hence helping to reduce the risk that consumer data is exposed to. Individuals can secure their data on their local device and apply for credit without exposing data to risk, using Bloom’s blockchain-based mobile application. Anyone can take advantage of the blockchain technology because of bloom’s straightforward onboarding process. Through this move, BMW Financial Services will revolutionize the way individuals apply for financing.

“looking to examine any and all methods of how blockchain ledgers could support the transformation of current data warehousing, payment, and customer information tracking.”

According to Smith, BMW’s goal is to automate a large part of their processing and focus more on tracking and securing of information.

This initiative is part of the BMW collaboration Lab 2018 which involves six startups that will be participating in a 10-week lab at BMW Financial Services’ offices in Hilliard, Ohio.

Hero MotoCorp

Risultati immagini per Vijay Sethi

In January this year, Vijay Sethi, chief information officer of Hero MotoCorp was at Bajaj’s manufacturing plant in Pune, holding discussions with a few auto industry stakeholders. The discussion was about taking autoDX – a cloud-based platform for invoices, purchase orders and shipping notices – to the next level by putting it on a blockchain.

“We are looking at how to put this on the blockchain,” said Sethi, in an interview with FactorDaily. “Discussions on putting things on blockchain has started – this will be on an industry-wide scale.”

Sethi has his reasons why a company-agnostic blockchain works.

“Why would a Bajaj agree with Hero (MotoCorp)’s way of working,” he asked.

That is why an industry-wide standardisation finds takers, besides obvious costs benefits over the cost of individually building platforms.
When automobile makers (also known as OEMs, short for original equipment manufacturers) and component manufacturers are brought onto the blockchain, it is expected to bring clear end-to-end supply chain visibility to everyone involved.

For example, a component manufacturer having visibility of an OEM’s manufacturing line and plans will be able to better plan its overall inventory management and supply chain — thereby improving efficiency.

Hero’s Sethi explained that a universal blockchain also takes away the cost and time from individual companies to build a blockchain. The same blockchain architecture can be used by all autoDX members.

“There will one universal blockchain for the supply chain,” he said.

The idea is to extend it to payments and financial transactions.

Blockchain technology opens its doors and every day more people are aware of it, thanks also to big companies that already use it or have plans to move their business on them, spreading the word.

The future begins with these small steps.
